Biography: Originally hailing from Northern New Jersey, Eric’s first big screen memory is freaking out at a screening of Naked Gun 2 1/2 – specifically when Frank Drebin gets an electric toothbrush shoved in his mouth and foam starts spewing out. He, fortunately, recovered from that incident, becoming fascinated with film thanks to the ’90s indie movement and writer/directors like Quentin Tarantino, the Coen brothers, Robert Rodriguez, and Richard Linklater. Truly, though, it was a 7th grade English class project and a screening of Casablanca that first convinced him he wanted to be a critic.
Eric attended Boston University and earned a B.S. in Journalism – all the while never ceasing his arguably unhealthy movie-watching habits. Shortly after graduation, he took a part-time job as a staff writer for CinemaBlend, and after six months was offered the opportunity to move to Los Angeles and take on a newly-created West Coast Editor position.
Since then his title has changed – now the Events Editor for the site – but the work for CinemaBlend continues. In addition to film reviews, Eric also conducts interviews with filmmakers and actors, contributes features and editorials, and hosts both a weekly Facebook Live show and podcast called Hero Blend.
