Biography: Raised and reared in Austin, Texas, Kevin O’Keeffe has spent his professional and academic lives in Los Angeles and New York City. He wrote for publications including The Atlantic, The Advocate, LA Weekly, Texas Monthly and more before accepting a position as a staff writer at Mic. There, he built the arts section from the ground up, eventually serving as the section’s editor before moving into a full-time senior writer role once the voice and style of the section was established. Now, he works as critic and commentator, writing at the intersection of identity and culture while maintaining a sharp critical eye, no matter what the movie, TV show or other work of art.
